LP Duo
Classical elegance, jazz freedom, rock ‘n’ roll power!
Carnegie Hall, New York, 2014
Pianists Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović have been appearing as LP Duo since 2004. After finishing postgraduate studies at the Belgrade Faculty of Music, they completed Master and Konzertexamen studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock (Germany). As solo musicians and piano duo members, they have so far won more than 30 awards at international music competitions. They were the only duo from the Balkans to qualify among eight of the world’s best duos at the Dranoff Miami Two Pianos competition in Miami (Florida).
The Duo received the City of Belgrade Award for youth creativity, as well as the annual award of the Serbian Music Artists Association (UMUS) for best young artists. They were awarded a prize by the Bruno Frey Stiftung Landesakademie Ochsenhausen in Germany, for excellent achievements. The significance of this prize is even greater considering that it is usually awarded only to Germans.
They have had many appearances and successful concert tours in Serbia, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, San Marino, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia & Herzegovina, USA, as well as at festivals around the world. Their activities also include a UNICEF charity concert in Germany.
The LP Duo has appeared several times as soloists with the RTS Symphony Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dušan Skovran Belgrade String Orchestra, the Opera Orchestra of the Belgrade National Theatre and the Isidora Žebeljan String Orchestra. They have premiered more than 30 pieces by Serbian and foreign contemporary music composers. Some of those performances were also world premieres, and many of those pieces were dedicated specifically to the LP Duo. Thus far, they have published six CDs in Serbia, Croatia, Denmark and the Netherlands.
Sonja Lončar and Andrija Pavlović regularly give master classes for piano duos in Serbia and abroad and they have been successful promoters of Serbian contemporary music.
In 2014, they made their debut appearance at the famous Carnegie Hall New York, while in 2015 they debuted at the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Sonja Lončar is a docent at the Belgrade Faculty of Music and Andrija Pavlović is a docent of the NOVA Academy European University in Belgrade.
