As part of its educational projects, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra invests in future young professionals through its orchestral academy – the Philcademy. For the best students and graduates of the musical academies from Serbia and other countries in the region, the Philcademy is a unique opportunity to receive professional training under the mentorship of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra musicians, gain experience in orchestral performance and receive the Philcademy certificate.
Young musicians actively participate in the work process and the final concert, which are directed by one of the renowned international conductors who appear with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the regular concert season. The repertoire is selected with the aim to cover many specific aspects of orchestral performance, which the Philcademy trainees prepare and then perform in the final concert, side by side with the BPO musicians.
Auditions are organised to select the best applicants to become the Philcademy trainees. Rehearsals of separate sections with mentors are followed by full orchestra rehearsals as the preparation of the final concert.
The Philcademy programme is open for active participation of all interested students and graduates up to 27 years of age, who play the following instruments:
- Violin, viola, violoncello, double bass;
- Oboe, flute, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion, harp.
After the successful pilot project, implemented in November 2016, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra’s second Philcademy will be organised in the period 20 November – 1 December 2017.
