The Belgrade Philharmonic is presenting conductor Stanislav Kochanovsky and violinist Marc Bouchkov at a concert at Kolarac Hall on Friday, March 4, at 8:00 p.m. The new young lions of music, whose names dominate the European concert scene, will be with the Belgrade Philharmonic for the first time, with a program including works by Korngold and Mahler.

Violinist Marc Bouchkov, winner of numerous international awards and a guest star of leading music houses, captivates audiences and critics alike, not only with his authentic performances, but also with the way he communicates with his listeners through music. Not only lovers of violin but also film music buffs will enjoy his performance, because the young soloist will be performing a work by Oscar winner Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The name of this composer appears alongside the big stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood in films such as The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk. His violin concerto represents both worlds – Hollywood film music but also sophisticated classical music language. In this part, you can hear themes from the films Another Dawn, Juarez, Anthony Adverse, as well as themes from the film starring Errol Flynn, The Adventures of Robin Hood, for which Korngold won the Oscar for Best Music, Original Score in 1939.

It is no coincidence that Gustav Mahler’s magnificent music will occupy the central part of this concert program, since the famous composer was the young Korngold’s role model and mentor. Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, also known as Titan, will be interpreted by Stanislav Kochanovsky, widely regarded as one of the most promising conductors in Europe, possessing a wide-ranging symphonic and opera repertoire. He will be conducting the Belgrade Philharmonic for the first time with Mahler’s Titan, which also happens to be one of the Belgrade Philharmonic’s favorite and most frequently performed compositions, and on this occasion we will hear a less frequently performed version with the Blumine movement. Tickets are on sale at the Belgrade Philharmonic box-office and also online.
