As part of its educational projects, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra organised its first orchestral academy – The Philcademy, in the period 7–15 November 2016. For the best students and graduates of the musical academies from Serbia and other countries in the region, the Philcademy was a unique opportunity to receive professional training under the mentorship of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra musicians, gain experience in orchestral performance and receive the certificate of attendance at the Philcademy.
Young musicians actively participated in the work process and the final concert, which was directed by the eminent French conductor Fabrice Bollon. The selected repertoire covered many specific aspects of orchestral performance. Side by side with the BPO musicians, the Philcademy trainees prepareed and played L. van Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 and Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird.
