Vera Ilić

Orchestra member since 1 April 1994

I take special pride in working in the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, which is the fulfilment of my wishes and professional aspirations. I have tried to gain a broad musical education, so, in secondary school, I completed four departments: the violin, piano, solo singing and theoretical departments, while at university, in addition to the violin, I studied in the music pedagogy department. My work in the orchestra is nicely complemented by teaching in two schools of music. I take great pleasure in raising new generations of musicians. In addition, I take every opportunity for new solo performances or playing in chamber ensembles.

I am a dynamic person who enjoys sports and travelling. I particularly love the summer and the seaside, listening to rock music and animals – especially cats, of which there are always a few in my house.

Vera Ilić graduated from the Belgrade Faculty of Music. She was further trained in masterclasses with D. Margetts, S, Kravchenko, S. Kunakov, Mokatsian, I. Bezrodni, S. Kamilarov, B. Taneva, V. Boyadjian, S. Krstić and D. Mihailović. In addition to the violin department, she also completed secondary music school departments of piano, music theory and solo singing. As a university student, she won several national and federal competitions as a soloist and a member of a string quartet.

Since 1994, Vera has been a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, as a tutti second violin. She also performs as a soloist and concertmaster of the chamber orchestra Pro Classica and as a member of various chamber ensembles. She has appeared with the RTS Symphony Orchestra, Terazije Theatre and Madlenianum Opera and Theatre. As a member of the Diferente string quartet, she collaborated with DJ Spooky and the German pianist/composer Volker Bertelman Hauschka.

Aside from playing the violin, Vera Ilić also works as a teacher in music schools Vladimir Djordjević, as the director of the string orchestra, and Vatroslav Lisinski, where she teaches secondary school students of violin. Her students have had remarkable performances in competitions and concerts at home and abroad.
