The Belgrade Philharmonic and Chief Conductor Gabriel Feltz are prearing for the spectacular Disney Fantasia Live, to be performed at a free open-air concert on June 23, 2019.

For the first time in the region, at the traditional Philharmonic Picnic at Ušće, in New Belgrade’s Block 13, all generations will be able to enjoy the most beautiful animated spectacle of all time accompanied by famous pearls of classical music performed by the Belgrade Philharmonic under the big screen.

The Belgrade Philharmonic has been granted the right to present and perform this sensational production – a high-quality projection in high definition, which is a compilation of Walt Disney’s original film Fantasia from 1940 and the film Fantasia 2000, officially never shown in our region before. The concert will open to the sounds of Beethoven’s famous Fifth Symphony featured in Fantasia 2000, followed by parts from Disney’s original film: Beethoven’s Sixth (Pastoral) Symphony, a segment from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, and a special treat – Debussy’s Clair de lune with an animated sequence omitted from the original Fantasia from 1940.

The Belgrade Philharmonic will then play Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite with a unique animation from Fantasia 2000, followed by Ponchielli’s legendary Dance of the Hours and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Paul Dukas, with the famous struggle between Mickey Mouse and a broom, which was the original starting point for this feature-length animated masterpiece. The concert finale will include scenes from the new version with marches from Pomp and Circumstance (E. Elgar), Pines of Rome (O. Respighi), and The Carnival oftheAnimals (C. Saint-Saëns).

Around 50,000 people from all over the region are expected to attend the Belgrade Philharmonic’s third open-air concert, which starts at 8:30 p.m. The gates will be open three hours earlier. As usual, admission is free.
