Valentin Egel has been studying conducting at the Music Academy “Franz Liszt” in Weimar with Prof. Nicolás Pasquet, Prof. Ekhart Wycik and Prof. Gunter Kahlert since 2014.
In the course of his studies he has collaborated, amongst others, with the MDR Sinfonieorchester, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the City of Jena and the Karlovarský Symfonický Orchestra (Czech Republic).
In 2017 he served as artistic director of the students’ opera production of Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi”. In the same year he was awarded the Charlotte Krupp grant of the New Liszt Foundation Weimar.
At the moment he is Artistic Director of the Junge Symphoniker Südbaden, the students’ Symphony Orchestra of the Roman-Catholic Community of Freiburg’s Music Academy. As conductor of the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin he gave a concert at Berlin’s Philharmonie in January 2018.
He won the First Prize of the 8th Conducting Competition of the Central German Music Academies and the MDR Sinfonieorchester.
