Jaume Santonja

Jaume Santonja is recently appointed as Associate Conductor of the Euskadiko Orchestra (Basque National Orchestra) in San Sebastian. Since 2018 he’s also Assistant Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

 

Jaume got great success on his debuts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the RTVE Orchestra of Madrid as well as in his first subscription concert with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra into his centenary season celebration.

 

Jaume was selected among the four most promising young talented conductors to participate in June 2020 to the exclusive masterclasses with Iván Fischer and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.

 

Next engagements will bring him in front of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano LaVerdi, National Orchestra and Chorus of Madrid, Euskadiko Orkestra, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Málaga Philharmonic, South Netherlands Philharmonic, Bilkent Symphony, Opera North Orchestra in Leeds, Phion-Orchestra of Gelderland & Overijssel, among others.

 

Jaume is the founder of the AbbatiaViva music collective.

 

Santonja has seen success at various international conducting contests and holds a Master of Music (Conducting) from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and a Master of Music (Percussion) from the Amsterdam Conservatorium. He studied for his Bachelor’s degree at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, Barcelona.
