The chamber series Inspired by Music launches on Thursday, 17 December at 7 PM in the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall. This season focuses on larger chamber ensembles, while upholding the concept of artistic leadership. The first of the series of chamber stage concerts will be led by violinist Eszter Haffner, joined by the Belgrade Philharmonic musicians for performances of pieces by Mozart.

“It is a worldwide trend nowadays for top-notch soloists to devote themselves to leading ensembles at certain stages of their careers, which quite often evolves into conducting. We have recognized this form as very useful for refining and raising the quality of our philharmonic ensembles. Chamber music is generally considered a very important and valuable part of our work, and the audience will find the concept we have devised particularly interesting since it represents a symbiosis of the chamber and symphonic genres”, said Danica Maksimović, Programme Manager at the Belgrade Philharmonic.

Hungarian violinist Eszter Haffner has appeared with many artists as a soloist and chamber musician. Her recordings reflect her unusually extensive musical range, covering chamber and concerto works. With the BPO musicians, she will treat the audience to an evening of Mozart’s music, including his Divertimento in B-flat major, Adagio for violin and orchestra in E minor and the famous Symphony in G minor. Eszter will play a challenging role of being the leader and conductor at the same time, which requires the ability to focus on one’s own and other musicians’ sections in the ensemble.

The next concert in the Chamber Music Series in scheduled on 21 January 2016, under the artistic leadership of Norwegian trumpeter Jan Fredrik Christiansen.
