Howard Griffiths and Steven Osborne
A. Pärt:
Cantus In memoriam Benjamin Britten
B. Britten:
Piano Concerto
A. Dvořák:
Symphony No. 8
It is a well known fact that Estonian composer Arvo Pärt deeply admired the music of Benjamin Britten, so it is no surprise that the composer dedicated the piece to his great role model. In 1977, Pärt composed his elegy Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten, which became the first example of his innovative tintinnabuli style, based on his perception and creative reinterpretation of the Gregorian chant. Steven Osborne, makes his Belgrade debut performing Britten’s dazzling Piano Concerto from 1945. The evening concludes with a perennial audience favorite worldwide: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8.
Steven Osborne will perform as the soloist instead of the previously announced pianist Jorum Son.
