The concert dedicated to the memory of Zoran Đinđić
The London program features works by three famous composers from the Island, conducted by another compatriot, Maestro Howard Griffiths. Walton’s Scapino is bursting with the brilliant sounds of the adventures of the English version of the Italian rogue of the Commedia dell’ Arte. The atmosphere is contrasted by Britten’s Violin Concerto with soloist Carolin Widmann. Its seriousness and emotionality evoke fear before the beginning of World War II, just as Ralph Vaughan’s London Symphony did on the eve of World War One.
