F. Schubert Symphony No. 8 D. 759 in B minor (Unfinished)
R. Glière Concerto for Coloratura and Orchestra Op. 82
L. van Beethoven Symphony No. 7, op. 92 in A major
From ancient times the voice is considered to be the most perfect instrument. Developing the tradition of vocalise as a pedagogical form for the development of technique, Reinhold Glière composed a completely unusual concert form for coloratura soprano and symphony orchestra to be interpreted by Alina Wunderlin. The concert will round off two important symphonies. Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony began the epoch of Romanticism, while Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, composed 9 years earlier, announced the end of the previous epoch of Classicism.
