Political history of the Vietnam war period is the main theme of John Adams’ opera Nixon in China. The opera also incorporates one of the composer’s previously written orchestral work, The Chairman Dances. Next on the program is the premiere of a new work by composer Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovic, commissioned by the Belgrade Philharmonic – a new Double concerto for cello and percussion, which we will perform together with the acclaimed cellist Kian Soltani and our percussionist Aleksandra Suklar. Being careful not be too pathetic with the novelties, we will also play Tchaikovsky’s Pathetic Symphony.
