Vasilije Mokranjac’s graduate work Dramatic Overture is one of the rare pieces of this composer that radiates an atmosphere of optimism. This distinction is exactly the reason why it was included in the programme of the concert to be directed by our long-term guest Cristian Mandeal. Violinist Johannes Moser will perform the solo part of Lalo’s Violoncello concerto, while the latter part of the programme will feature Hindemith’s monumental Mathis der Mahler.
