The Belgrade Philharmonic has begun a series of concerts for schoolchildren, at the BPO’s concert hall, every workday from 22-30 March, beginning at 10 a.m. and 12 noon. The program, called “Hello, We Are the Orchestra,” is headed by two Philharmonic members: violist Tamara Marinković-Tomić and violinist Slavica Perić.

For this series of concerts, the Belgrade Philharmonic has prepared something completely different. The musicians will not only play; they will also present themselves to the children and introduce them to every instrument in the orchestra. Leading the way will be Tamara and Slavica, as a well-coordinated team, which plays host to children at the Philharmonic’s open rehearsals every month, when the kids come to meet the musicians.

The music, discussions, and the fun are designed to introduce the children to the world of the Philharmonic, which, on this occasion, is being conducted by a lady – Olivera Sekulić Barac. Those who pay the most attention and follow the program attentively will also be given a chance to conduct the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.

There is a great deal of interest in the Belgrade Philharmonic’s concerts for children, and in addition to pupils from Belgrade, we are expecting schoolchildren from Arandjelovac, Omoljica, Kovin, Stara Pazova, and Pančevo. Every year, more than 7,000 children visit the Belgrade Philharmonic and listen to many interesting programs, including Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, The Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, The Carnival of the Animals, The Travels of Mija the Mouse, and so on.
