Praised for her “strength and tranquillity of being” (Le Temps), Colombian conductor Ana María Patiño-Osorio is rapidly  establishing herself as one of the most compelling artistic voices of her generation. Acclaimed for interpretations of  “force, energy, concentration” and an ability to “sketch, articulate and sustain symphonic architecture” (Scherzo), she  combines expressive intensity with exceptional clarity, elegance, and musical insight. Critics have hailed her as “a name  one hopes returns very soon.” 

Born in Medellín, Colombia, Ana is Music Director of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín and served as the 25/26  Dudamel Conducing Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In April 2024 she captured the international attention  at the Malko Competition for Young Conductors in Copenhagen, winning the Second Prize, the Audience Prize, and  the Youth Jury Prize. 

The transformative 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons marked a series of major debuts across Europe and North America.  Ana collaborated with the Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España, Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro de RTVE in Madrid,  Euskadiko Orkestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Danish National  Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Geneva Camerata,  Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional  de Colombia, and the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá. 

In the 2026/27 season, Ana returns to the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI with Berlioz’s Symphonie  Fantastique, to the Orchestre National Bordeaux-Aquitaine for concert performances of Lucia di Lammermoor in  Bordeaux and at the Philharmonie de Paris, and to the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra with  Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8. Season debuts include collaborations with the Tonkünstler Orchestra, Prague Radio  Symphony Orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier, Belgrade Philharmonic  Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, Kristiansand  Symfoniorkester, and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. 

Committed to working with young musicians, since 2015 Ana has also been involved with the Iberacademy Orchestra  in Medellín, where she has been assisting its co-founder and conductor Roberto González-Monjas in a multitude of  projects. In October 2023, she conducted the Iberacademy Orchestra at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg. The following  year, she has led a highly successful European tour with Orquesta Juvenil Sinfonía por el Perú and celebrated tenor  Juan Diego Flórez with performances in Madrid, Barcelona, Vienna, Geneva, and Paris. In the 2026/27 season Ana will  collaborate with the Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia and the Young Philharmonic (Ung Filharmoni) in Oslo.  

Ana began her musical training as a saxophonist before transitioning to orchestral conducting. She completed her  undergraduate degree in Orchestra Conducting at the Universidad EAFIT in Medellín before being accepted to the  prestigious master’s programme of Orchestral Conducting at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste under Johannes  Schlaefli, where she graduated with honours in 2021. In 2022 Ana was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre  de la Suisse Romande, the first person to hold in this position, working closely with Jonathan Nott for two seasons  until 2024. A finalist in the Solti International Conducting Competition with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony in 2020,  Ana is also the recipient of the 2021 National Prize for best Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, and a  winner of the Conducting Fellowship at Dirigentenforum des Deutschen Musikrates Germany in 2019.
