In honor of Maestro Zubin Mehta, a formal reception and traditional Parsi dinner were held last night in the garden of the Seth Jeejeebhoy Dadabhoy Agiary in Mumbai, an important religious and cultural center of the Parsi community. The entire orchestra attended the event, during which representatives of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra presented the Maestro with a special gift – a photo album featuring carefully selected moments from their shared history, spanning from 1958 to the present day.

Proud of his roots, Maestro Mehta chose to wear traditional Parsi attire specially made for him for the occasion. After greeting the distinguished guests, Mehta entered the Zoroastrian fire temple, where the sacred fire is preserved and religious rituals of the Parsi community in Mumbai are performed.

Organized by the Mehli Mehta Foundation and Mr. Nusli Wadia, the celebration welcomed more than one hundred guests, who enjoyed a formal reception and a lavish seven-course dinner served on banana leaves. Maestro Mehta was delighted by the gift presented by Jelena Milašinović, PR Manager of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, together with its program editors Asja Radonjić and Danica Maksimović, promising that he would be browsing through the photographs that same evening.

The celebration took place in the garden of one of Mumbais oldest and most significant Zoroastrian (Parsi) fire temples. Founded in the 19th century through the philanthropy of the prominent JeejeebhoyDadabhoy Parsi family, the temple remains an important religious and cultural hub of the Parsi community. The temple is renowned for its architecture, long-standing tradition, and its role in preserving Zoroastrian heritage in India.

Another celebration in honor of Zubin Mehta will be held at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, following the first concert which he will conduct with the orchestra on January 15, 2026, at the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
