F. Schubert Death and the Maiden for string quartet
F. Schubert Death and the Maiden for string orchestra (аrr. G. Mahler)
No, it’s not a typo – it IS the same piece twice on the same program. The most famous out of 15 Schubert’s string quartets, also known as Death and the Maiden, served as inspiration to Gustav Mahler for an arrangement for string orchestra several decades later. Schubert’s masterpiece of chamber literature will be performed in the first part of the evening by the Belgrade Philharmonic String Quartet, and in the second part – by the entire string section of the orchestra.
