26/11/25

On November 28, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra is taking the stage on the Friday night concert with conductor Julio García Vico and pianist Alim Beisembayev as a soloist (Kolarac, 8 p.m.). The program features pieces by Obradović, Prokofiev, Ravel, and Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra continues to showcase a new generation of artists whose careers are rapidly capturing the attention of the international music scene. Pianist Alim Beisembayev is the current holder of the BBC’s New Generation Artist title for 2023-25. He rose to international prominence when, with only two days’ notice, he made his BBC Proms debut with the London Symphony Orchestra under the direction of John Wilson. Reviewing his performance, The Telegraph wrote: There is no pianist under 30 in the world we would rather hear.

The Belgrade Philharmonic audiences will have the opportunity to hear Beisembayev in Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The first part of the concert is dedicated to the music of this composer, beginning with Aleksandar Obradović’s Scherzo-Overture, a work inspired by Sergei Prokofiev’s stylistic world.

In the second half, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra will transport the audience directly to Spain with the sounds of Ravel and Rimsky-Korsakov. Rapsodie Espagnole (Spanish Rhapsody) and Capriccio Espagnol will warm the audience under the baton of Julio García Vico, a rising Spanish conductor. Winner of the prestigious Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in 2021, he served as Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, where he worked closely with distinguished artists such as Sir Simon Rattle, Gianandrea Noseda, François-Xavier Roth, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Barbara Hannigan, and Antonio Pappano.

Tickets are available at the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra box office, as well as online.
