THE TIME HAS COME

The witching hour— the dead of night when, according to legends, ghosts and evil creatures rule the world.
This November night, we summon spirits with the music of Franz Liszt. In the Mephisto Waltz, the first of four waltzes dedicated to the dark figure of Mephisto, a devilish pianist’s playing bridges the real world and the supernatural. Grotesque dances continue with the famous Totentanz presented in an orchestral version full of imaginative instrumental effects.
Mahler’s majestic Symphony No. 5 brings redemption from these dark intrigues. Over the course of 70 minutes, it will take us from a somber funeral march to a triumphant celebration of life and love in the renowned Adagietto.
