JULIO GARCÍA VICO

Winner of the 2021 Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition, Julio García-Vicohas has been Assistant Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, where he worked closely with conductors Sir Simon Rattle, Gianandrea Noseda, François-Xavier Roth, Sir John Eliot Gardiner,Barbara Hannigan and Antonio Pappano.

 

He has also been assistant to Maestro Nicola Luisotti at the Teatro Real in Madrid. Julio was also awarded First Prize, Opera Prize, and the Audience Prize at the prestigious Deutsche Dirigentpreis 2019 (German Conductors Award). The jury described him as “an extraordinary talent.”

 

He has served as General Music Director of the Opera Studio at the Krefeld and Mönchengladbach theaters in Germany, and has debuted as guest conductor with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra,Mantova Chamber Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, RTVE Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony, Tenerife Symphony, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Filarmónica de Málaga, Orquesta de Córdoba, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, and at the Mariinsky Theater.

 

In the 24/25 season Julio will make debuts with the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Oporto Symphony, Stuttgart Philharmonic, Gävle Symphony, Antalya Symphony, Orquesta Sinfónicadel Vallés, and will return to the Fiarmónica de Málaga for the New Year’s concerts.

 

Julio graduated in conducting from the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf with Prof.Bohn, has been academist at the renowned Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, and also has pursued studies in philosophy, piano, repetition and viola. He speaks fluently seven languages, including Spanish, English, German, Italian, Korean and Japanese.
