The Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s love-inspired concerts, from the series For Lovers<\/em>, resumes on Friday, 23 December<\/a> (Kolarac, 8pm). The orchestra will perform music of de Falla, Chausson and Shchedrin under the baton of conductor Fabrice Bollon, with Serbian mezzo-soprano Milijana Nikoli\u0107, who has been successfully building an international career, featuring as the special guest.

\nThe programme for lovers tells three very different love stories. Firstly, the magical love in Manuel de Falla\u2019s El amor brujo<\/em>, then a very na\u00efve, sincere and poetical love in Ernest Chausson\u2019s Po\u00e8me de l\u2019amour et de la mer <\/em>and, finally, the burning and passionate love in Rodion Shchedrin\u2019s exquisite and popular artistic cover of Carmen<\/em>.

\nIn the past 15 years, Milijana Nikoli\u0107\u2019s artistic engagements have risen to such heights that rightfully give her a place among the world\u2019s leading mezzo-sopranos of the younger generation. This will be her first appearance with our orchestra: \u201cWhen I saw the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra in Carnegie Hall two years ago, I was beaming with pride, not only because of my patriotic feelings and the impressive history of this orchestra, but also because the orchestra was returning to the international stage where it rightfully belongs<\/strong>\u201d, said Milijana. \u201dIn the last 15 years, I have performed with many orchestras all around the globe, but the concert with our Belgrade Philharmonic will be an immense professional and emotional experience for me, since it will be my first appearance with this renowned orchestra, which always has exciting artistic programme in its repertoire.<\/strong>\u201d

\nConductor Fabrice Bollon once again returns to the conductor\u2019s stand in Belgrade. His opera experience and sophisticated musical sensibility make him the perfect director of this concert.

\nThe series For Lovers<\/em>, one of the most popular in the Belgrade Philharmonic\u2019s season, will include some of the most beautiful love stories, such as Romeo and Juliet, Daphnis and Chloe and the Cinderella.
