The United States seemed to have awakened in him a creative energy that he poured into his three most significant works: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symphony No. 9<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the New World<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), S<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tring Quartet Op. 96<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and his <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Concerto for Cello and Orchestra<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in B minor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, his last work performed on the North American continent.
