The Belgrade Philharmonic and Chief Conductor Gabriel Feltz finished last year’s concert season with Mahler’s Second Symphony, at Kolarac Hall on June 14, 2019. This was one of the Belgrade Philharmonic’s best performances, which neither we nor the audience, are likely to forget.<\/p>\n
There were more than 180 musicians on stage. The Belgrade Philharmonic, joined by the Branko Krsmanovi\u0107 Choir and operatic sopranos Lavinia Dames and Tanja Baumgartner, performed this masterpiece, also known as the Resurrection Symphony<\/em>.<\/p>\n In this symphony Mahler gives an exposition of the philosophy of life through the power of music. In this colossal work, the composer embarks on a new adventure of introducing the human voice to a symphony for the first time – with two sopranos and a chorus. On that occasion, world-renowned mezzo-soprano Tanja Baumgartner and soprano Lavinia Dames, a permanent member of the German opera ensemble on the Rhine in Dusseldorf, performed for the Belgrade audience for the first time.<\/p>\n Stay at home and listen to music!<\/p>\n
