{"id":29203,"date":"2020-02-26T12:59:56","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T11:59:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/?p=29203"},"modified":"2020-02-27T18:45:38","modified_gmt":"2020-02-27T17:45:38","slug":"from-beethoven-s-string-quartet-to-wagner-s-siegfried","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/from-beethoven-s-string-quartet-to-wagner-s-siegfried\/","title":{"rendered":"From Beethoven&#8217;s String Quartet to Wagner&#8217;s Siegfried"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>New Venture by Feltz and the Belgrade Philharmonic<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Belgrade Philharmonic and Chief Conductor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/dirigent_cp\/gabriel-feltz\/\">Gabriel Feltz<\/a> are embarking on a new venture at Kolarac Hall on Friday, 28 February, at 8:00 p.m. After the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/orchestra\/?b=2\">Belgrade Philharmonic&#8217;s string quartet<\/a> performs the <em>String Quartet No. 16 in F major, Op. 135<\/em>, Beethoven&#8217;s last major work, the orchestra will be joined by world-famous opera stars in performing the third act of Richard Wagner&#8217;s <em>Siegfried<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once more our audience is in for a genre spree because the concert evening begins in an entirely chamber atmosphere, with only four musicians on stage. The Belgrade Philharmonic&#8217;s string quartet: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/orkestar_cp\/jelena-dragnic\/\">Jelena Dragni\u0107<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/orkestar_cp\/vladan-loncar\/\">Vladan Lon\u010dar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/orkestar_cp\/boris-brezovac\/\">Boris Brezovac<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/orkestar_cp\/aleksandar-latkovic\/\">Aleksandar Latkovi\u0107<\/a>, will perform Beethoven&#8217;s masterpiece, <em>String Quartet No. 16, Op. 135<\/em>, one of the most iconic chamber music creations of all time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8222;The connection between\nBeethoven and Wagner is one of the most important in the history of music,\nespecially if we know that it is not possible to understand Wagner unless we\nunderstand Beethoven. What Wagner learned while studying the score of this\nquartet had a major influence on his further creative work. We will take you a\njourney beginning with only four musicians on stage and going to over a hundred\nperforming <em>Siegfried,<\/em> and both works are\nconnected by the same philosophical thought,&#8220; Gabriel Feltz said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our chief conductor is fulfilling our promise made regarding operas presented in concert version. Especially for this occasion we are pleased to be hosting world-famous opera stars, soprano <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/solista_cp\/elisabeth-teige\/\">Elisabeth Teige<\/a>, mezzo soprano <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/solista_cp\/karin-lovelius\/\">Karin Lovelius<\/a> (standing in for Simone\u00a0Schr\u00f6der,\u00a0who is unable to perform due to illness), tenor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/solista_cp\/paul-mcnamara\/\">Paul McNamara<\/a>, and baritone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/solista_cp\/teruhiko-komori\/\">Teruhiko Komori<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wagner is rarely performed locally and\nthis is an exclusive opportunity for the audience to enjoy the story of the\nyoung hero Siegfried in an epic that forms part of the famous <em>Ring of the Nibelung<\/em> cycle.
