The Belgrade Philharmonic and Conductor Fabrice Bollon will be performing the final concert from our Love series, at Kolarac Hall, on Friday, 10 May, at 8:00 p.m. The program includes works by Smetana and Schoenberg, and the orchestra will be joined by pianist Antti Siirala for the performance of Grieg’s famous Piano Concerto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The topic of Love in music is rounded off by three completely different authors. The famous comic opera The Bartered Bride by Bed\u0159ichSmetana, speaks of the triumph of true love over a contracted marriage and its overture is often performed at concerts because of its popularity. Maeterlinck’s work Pell\u00e9as<\/em> and M\u00e9lisandecaused a real fascination that spread to many artists as a virus. Hence, Schoenberg composed his symphonic work with the same theme: a tragic story, a love triangle, between Melisande, Pelleas and his half-brother, Golaud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between the comic and the tragic tones, there is an absolute gem of piano literature, the famous Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Edvard Grieg – a representative of the Nordic style of Romanticism. The audience will hear one of the best pianists of his generation, Finnish musician Antti Siirala, who will be performing with the Belgrade Philharmonic for the first time. He is also active as a recitalist and chamber musician, and quite accidentally he also tried himself as a conductor! On one occasion he was asked to step in as conductor, and in addition to playing, he also conducted the orchestra from his place at the piano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One hundred standing tickets will be on sale at the Kolarac Box office from 7:00 p.m., one hour before the concert.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
