{"id":23409,"date":"2019-01-31T13:43:20","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T12:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/?p=23409"},"modified":"2019-01-31T13:47:06","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T12:47:06","slug":"wagner-and-the-belgrade-philharmonic-league-of-champions-of-classical-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/wagner-and-the-belgrade-philharmonic-league-of-champions-of-classical-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Wagner and the Belgrade Philharmonic &#8211; League of Champions of Classical Music"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A wholly unusual program\nawaits the devotees of the Belgrade Philharmonic&#8217;s &#8222;Love&#8220; series,\ntogether with Chief-Conductor Gabriel Feltz, at Kolarac Hall, on\nFriday, February 1, at 8:00 p.m. In the works of Beethoven and Wagner, the\naudience will hear two musical opposites &#8211; love <strong>\u00e0 <\/strong>la chamber, and love <strong>\u00e0<\/strong>\nla symphony!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our new concert from the &#8222;Love&#8220;\nseries starts very unusually &#8211; with only two artists on the stage. Gabriel Feltz,\nagain showing his artistry on the piano, and tenor Thomas Mohr, will perform Beethoven&#8217;s\nsong cycle <em>To the Distant Beloved<\/em> (An die ferne Geliebte) in which the composer&#8217;s usual\nheroic side gives way to the emotional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A complete changeover on\nthe Kolarac stage comes with Wagner&#8217;s opera <em>Valkyrie<\/em>,\nwith as many as 100 musicians on stage. On this occasion, the audience will hear\nthe first act of this monumental opera, whose main roles will be interpreted by\nprominent Wagnerians from renowned European opera houses: Michaela Kaune &#8211;\nsoprano, Thomas Mohr &#8211; tenor, and Thorsten Gr\u00fcmbel &#8211; bass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8222;It is a special\nprivilege for me to work for the first time with the Belgrade Philharmonic on\nWagner, whose work I consider to be the league of champions of classical music.\nIf he had a reputation for being arrogant, I think it had to do with the\ncompletely new and different vision he had in relation to the opera tendencies of\nthat time. Wagner introduced major changes in length, technique, complexity and\nthe way in which the orchestra is involved in narrating the layered stories.
