{"id":20222,"date":"2018-11-02T10:08:58","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T09:08:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/?p=20222\/"},"modified":"2018-11-02T10:13:03","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T09:13:03","slug":"bruckner-s-eighth-symphony-after-two-decades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/bruckner-s-eighth-symphony-after-two-decades\/","title":{"rendered":"Bruckner&#8217;s Eighth Symphony After Two Decades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Belgrade Philharmonic and Chief-Conductor Gabriel Feltz are preparing a huge symphonic undertaking &#8211; <em>Bruckner&#8217;s Eighth Symphony<\/em>, which they will perform at Kolarac Hall on Friday, November 2, at 8:00 p.m. The entire concert evening is dedicated exclusively to this composition, which, for its duration of 90 minutes, will &#8222;build&#8220; a gigantic sound edifice &#8211; as an ideal beginning of the Belgrade Philharmonic&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgf.rs\/en\/repertoar_cp\/ascension-1\/\">&#8222;Ascension&#8220;<\/a> series.<\/p>\n<p>&#8222;If I had to bring something with me to a desert island, it would have be Bruckner&#8217;s Eighth Symphony, especially its third, Adagio movement,&#8220; Feltz said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8222;I am attached to this symphony in many ways; I heard it when I was only a seven-year-old boy. Even though I could not understand it then, it changed my life. While working on it with the orchestra, time somehow flows differently. Especially in its Adagio movement; I would say that this tranquility emanating from the depth of the score has such an effect that it could be proven medically to lower blood pressure,&#8220; concluded the Belgrade Philharmonic&#8217;s chief conductor, who will conduct Bruckner&#8217;s longest symphony from memory.<\/p>\n<p>The Eighth Symphony is said to be a monumental creation, which represents the culmination of the composer&#8217;s wisdom and maturity. Bruckner was a deeply religious man; he was even interred in the monastery crypt under the organ that he played. The musicians of the Belgrade Philharmonic will demonstrate all their skill, concentration, and dedication in a piece that has not been on the orchestra&#8217;s repertoire for two decades.
