For the first time, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra presents the works of the eminent Clara Schumann as a composer, by performing a programme that reflects the emotional ties of three legends of music history \u2013 Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The concert is pervaded by the well-known love of Schumann and Brahms for the same woman \u2013 Clara Schumann. Brahms was a close family friend to the best-known couple in the world of music and, after Robert&#8217;s death, remained close to Clara for the rest of her life.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The programme will be opened by Robert Schumann&#8217;s overture to his only opera Genoveva. This will be followed by Clara Schumann&#8217;s Piano Concerto, performed by Annika Treutler, one of Germany\u2019s most promising young pianists. This piece was written by fourteen-year-old Clara a few years before she noted in her journal that <i>a woman must not desire to compose<\/i>. She is remembered as the most renowned pianist of her time, but her composing work is almost forgotten.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The concert will be rounded off by Brahms\u2019 famous Symphony No. 3, considered by the author himself to be <i>too popular and too often performed<\/i>. Despite being annoyed by its <i>excessive popularity<\/i>, Brahms was well aware of the indisputable value of this masterpiece.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">As the Belgrade Philharmonic season is fully sold out, the audience curious to experience the intricate web of music and emotions of these three historic figures has an opportunity to buy standing tickets an hour ahead of the concert at the Kolarac Ticket office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pianist Annika Treutler will appear instead of previously announced Alexander Krichel, who has been compelled to cancel his appearance owing to illness.
