Alongside \u017debeljan\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dance of Wooden Sticks<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the orchestra will perform <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Temples of Moesia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Belgrade Philharmonic\u2019 commission by Veljko Nenadi\u0107, inspired by the ideas and themes of \u017debeljan\u2019s unfinished <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Horn Concerto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most significant concerts of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s season comes full circle by celebrating the legacy of Isidora \u017debeljan, Serbia\u2019s most prominent contemporary composer. The Belgrade Philharmonic had originally commissioned a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Horn Concerto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from \u017debeljan for Stefan Dohr. Tragically, her untimely passing prevented her from completing the work, which was scheduled to be premiered during the 2020\/21 season. Continuing to honor her legacy, the orchestra commissioned her former student, Veljko Nenadi\u0107, to create a new piece based on her musical ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting from the idea of the temple not only as an architectural structure but as a symbol of an archetypal spiritual space, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Temples of Moesia \u2013 Hymns for Horn and Orchestra<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> draws its musical and extra-musical inspiration from the mythical, ritual, and spiritual heritage, as well as the broader historical and cultural legacy of ancient Moesia \u2014 a Roman province south of the river Danube, encompassing parts of present-day Serbia and the Balkans [\u2026] The work is dedicated to Isidora \u017debeljan, and its musical fabric weaves in fragments, motifs, and themes from her unfinished <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Horn Concerto<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, originally commissioned by the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said Veljko Nenadi\u0107.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u017debeljan\u2019s long-time collaborator Stefan Dohr returns to perform with the Belgrade Philharmonic, opening the concert on Friday with her <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dance of Wooden Sticks <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for horn and string orchestra. The evening concludes with another remarkable work, often described as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a piece composed twice &#8211; <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schumann\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symphony No. 4<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, conducted by Grammy Award winner Christian Reif.
