The program, conceived by the beloved BPO chief conductor, late Gabriel Feltz, features some of the finest works of French music.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Friday\u2019s concert of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra is dedicated to the memory of Gabriel Feltz, whose life was tragically cut short. The repertoire he curated is framed by popular Impressionist masterpieces, beginning with works by Maurice Ravel \u2013 the brilliant <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Alborada del gracioso<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the sumptuous ballet <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daphnis et Chlo\u00e9<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, one of the crowning achievements of French music as a whole.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The neoclassical <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clarinet Concerto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Jean Fran\u00e7aix will be performed by the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\u2019s principal clarinetist Ognjen Popovi\u0107, one of the most distinguished clarinetists on the Serbian music scene. He made his debut as a soloist with the Belgrade Philharmonic at the age of thirteen and has served as the orchestra\u2019s principal clarinet since 2002. Popovi\u0107 will perform Fran\u00e7aix\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">concerto<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a work that has earned a reputation as nearly unplayable or, at best, reserved for a select circle of virtuosos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Du\u0161an Vili\u0107 will be on the conductor\u2019s podium. Vili\u0107 has been successfully developing his professional career in Russia, collaborating as a principal and guest conductor with numerous leading symphony orchestras and opera houses across the country. Since 2023, he has been engaged as a conductor of the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mariinsky Theatre<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, working on its stages in Vladivostok and Saint Petersburg.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It gives me particular joy, on this <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">homecoming<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to see familiar faces in the orchestra: colleagues with whom I studied, spent time, and with whom I now create artistically, professionally.
