The concert, titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Living with the Enemy,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will showcase works by Prokofiev and Shostakovich.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the lives of Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitri Shostakovich, creativity was often burdened by censorship, which influenced the composers\u2019 stylistic expressions. After spending sixteen years abroad, Prokofiev decided to return to his homeland, fully aware that he would need to adapt his style to align with the Soviet regime\u2019s expectations. To meet these demands, he reduced his use of humor, sarcasm, and grotesque elements, shifting towards heightened lyricism and melodic expressions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prokofiev\u2019s lively <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Violin Concerto No. 2<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be performed by the young Swedish-Norwegian rising star, Johan Dalene. At just 23, he has already performed with leading orchestras and in prestigious concert halls both at home and internationally. His ability <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to make the Stradivarius sing<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under his fingers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Le Monde<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), paired with his refreshingly sincere musicianship and connection with fellow musicians and audiences, has earned him many admirers. In 2022, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gramophone<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> magazine named him <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Young Artist of the Year<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The audience will read between the lines of Shostakovich\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fifth Symphony<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which the composer wrote in response to harsh criticism of his earlier works.
