As a tribute to its founder Stevan Hristic, the orchestra will perform his composition <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Countryside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, featuring the world-renowned piano star Denis Kozhukhin, under the baton of Jaume Santonja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New discoveries are celebrated within the Belgrade Philharmonic by the performance of a piece that holds a special place in the orchestra\u2019s centennial season. The program features Stevan Hristic\u2019s symphonic poem <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Countryside<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, by the founder of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra that has been almost forgotten piece in the concert repertoire. It was created in 1935, and according to available records, this will be the first time the Belgrade Philharmonic performs it in a concert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A highlight of the Philharmonic\u2019s jubilee season is the performance by pianist Denis Kozhukhin, whose exceptional playing, as described by the Chicago Tribune, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">electrifies concert halls<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Established as one of the leading pianists of his generation, he has shared the stage with many renowned international orchestras, including the symphony orchestras of Chicago, London, and San Francisco, the philharmonic orchestras of Israel, London, and Rotterdam, the Royal <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Concertgebouw<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Orchestra, the Berlin <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staatskapelle<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Philharmonia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his debut with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, Kozhukhin will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff&#8217;s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Piano Concerto No. 4.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This brilliant and virtuosic composition has been unjustly overshadowed in the concert repertoire when compared to the composer\u2019s other works in this genre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Philharmonic\u2019s concert concludes with one of the most popular pieces in the classical music repertoire, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Romeo and Juliet<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Sergei Prokofiev, conducted by Jaume Santonja, a young and promising Spanish conductor whom the audience of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra had the pleasure of experiencing in the 2021\/22 concert season.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a season dedicated to the celebration of its 100th birthday, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra presents a concert entitled For New Discoveries on Friday, October 6, starting at 8 p.m. in Kolarac Concert Hall.
