Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Completed Master’s studies and at least three years of experience in an orchestra.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The audition for the position of\u00a0 Timpani takes place in two rounds.<\/p>\n

1 st Round<\/strong><\/span>:
\n– A melodic solo or etude of candidate\u2019s choice to be played on no more than standard set
\nof 4 timpani (scores need to be provided for audition committee).
\n– Beethoven: Symphony No. 1: Mvt. II and III
\n– Beethoven: Symphony No. 5: Mvt. I, III, and IV
\n– Beethoven: Symphony No. 9: Mvt. I, II, and IV<\/p>\n

2 nd Round<\/span><\/strong>:
\n– Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra: Mvt. IV, and V
\n– Bartok: Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste: Mvt. II, and IV
\n– Frank Martin: Concerto for Seven Wind Instruments: Mvt. III timpani solo
\n– Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring
\n– Mahler: Symphony No. 5: Mvt. II, and V
\n– Strauss: Salome
\n– Holst: The Planets: Mvt. VI Uranus (timp 1)
\n– Bruckner: Symphony No. 5: Mvt. IV
