Ivan Marjanović

Ivan Marjanović (1981) graduated from the Stanković Music School in the class of Zvezdan Jeremić. He graduated from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of Miroslav Karlović, where he also received his master’s degree. He is currently in the final year of his doctoral studies, in the class of Srđan Palačković.

 

Ivan Marjanović began his orchestral career in 1996, during high school, as a part-time member of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. He became a permanent member in 2000, and has been the solo timpanist of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra since 2010. He is a long-time collaborator of the RTS Symphony Orchestra, the Belgrade National Theater Orchestra, the Serbian National Theatre Orchestra in Novi Sad, the Madlenianum Theater, and the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra. In his orchestral career, he collaborated with eminent soloists and conductors, such as Z. Mehta, V. Gergiev, L. Pavarotti, A. Bocelli, J. Rakhlin, D. Matsuev and others.

 

Ivan Marjanović began his teaching career in 2001 at the Stanković Music School as a professor of percussion and chamber music. He is the founder of SPE – the first Serbian drumline ensemble, composed of the best students of the percussion department, with whom he has performed numerous times in the country and abroad.

 

In collaboration with Srđan Palačković, since 1999 he has been a member of the duo Belgrade Percussionists, the only professional ensemble for classical and contemporary percussion music in Serbia. The ensemble has performed numerous times in the country and abroad. The ensemble has successfully collaborated with the piano duo Katarina and Aleksandar Šandorov, the piano duo Lidija Bizjak and Sanja Bizjak, the piano duo Štencl, the piano duo Gereg, LP duo and the Belgrade Piano Duo. They have performed at festivals such as BEMUS, NOMUS, NIMUS, A Tempo, and Kotor Art.

 

Ivan Marjanović is actively involved in solo and chamber performances. He has collaborated with eminent soloists and pedagogues in the field of percussion (N. Živković, K. Abe, M. Kamija, E. Glenny, J. Quinn, J. Wooton and others). He regularly performs with the Gradilište ensemble, the Isidora Žebeljan ensemble, St. George Strings orchestra, ensemble Muzikon and others.
