Another faithful follower of Beethoven’s ideas was Anton Bruckner. A similar masterful case of treating the fugue technique that we encounter in Beethoven’s Ninth, can be found in Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5, which is on our concert program, conducted by Gabriel Feltz, who calls Bruckner’s fugue “the wildest fugue ever”.
