The Belgrade Philharmonic string ensemble gave two concerts for youngsters in Novi Sad, on Friday 18 December. About a thousand preschool and school children listened to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons at the Novi Sad Synagogue.

The Four Seasons interactive adventure was hosted by actor Vladimir Aleksić, who made sure that the kids were introduced in the world of classical music in an entertaining manner. In the most interesting parts of Vivaldi’s masterpiece, the four soloists emulated sounds from the nature, typical for each of the seasons. Jelena Matović, Miljana Popović Materni, Mirjana Nešković and Dušica Mladenović veraciously replicated the sounds of the seasons with their violins. Together with their fellow musicians, they simulated the chirping of birds, flashes and thunders, springs, barking of dogs, snow falling etc.

Through continuous learning programmes, the Belgrade Philharmonic reaches out to its youngest audience, fostering them since their early age through concerts for children, open rehearsals and interactive workshops. Determined to make its programmes available to audiences outside of Belgrade, as well, the BPO organised the children’s concerts in Novi Sad in cooperation with the Music Youth of Novi Sad.
