Nada Kolundžija

Nada Kolundžija is a concert pianist and Serbia’s most prominent performer and passionate promoter of contemporary music. She has given countless concert at home and abroad, has participated in numerous festivals and won many international awards and accolades.

 

Ms. Kolundžija is responsible for introducing the Belgrade audience to many 20th century classics. Her concert resume includes numerous Serbian and world premieres and she keeps expanding her diverse repertoire with new works by foreign and Serbian contemporary composers, some of which are dedicated to her.

 

Her concert appearances are sometimes marked by her performance of prepared piano, toy piano, piano using voice and recorded sound matrices, as well as by multimedia concepts.

 

She regularly plays with her brother, Jovan Kolundžija. Nada is a long-term collaborator and guest artist of Les Amis Concerts from Toronto. For many years, she was also a member of the Belgrade-based Ensemble for Different New Music and the Crossover Elita (classical and jazz fusion).

 

Ms. Kolundžija has performed on tour in the USA, Canada, China, India and Mexico, and played in Hungary, the Netherlands, Thailand, Germany, Spain, Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Romania, Greece, France and former Yugoslav countries.

 

Her international festival appearances include Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Croatia), Ohrid Summer Festival (Macedonia), the Music Biennale Zagreb (Croatia), CHINCH (Belgrade, Serbia), Cervantino Festival (Mexico), Interfest (Bitola, Macedonia), the Hvar Summer Festival (Croatia), A Tempo (Podgorica, Montenegro), soundaXis (Toronto, Canada), BEMUS and BELEF (Belgrade, Serbia), Musical Timisoara International Festival (Romania), International Review of Composers (Belgrade, Serbia), Festival Ljubljana (Slovenia), Contrasts Festival (Lviv, Ukraine), Kiev Music Fest (Ukraine), Planum Festival (Budapest, Hungary), the Festival of Performing Arts in the Celebration for H.M. the King`s 60th Birthday (Bangkok, Thailand), NOMUS (Novi Sad, Serbia), , BELEF(Belgrade, Serbia) and others.

 

She has performed at Salle Gaveau in Paris, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, New England Conservatory and Berklee College in Boston, Steinway Hall in New York, La Chapelle in Montreal, the United Nations Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium in New York, McGill Hall and Great Hall at the University in Toronto, Nehru Memorial Auditorium in New Delhi and many more renowned venues.

 

Ms. Kolundžija was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and earned her Master degree in piano performance at the Belgrade Academy of Music under Professor Dusan Trbojević. She completed her graduate studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, where she studied with world-renown pianist Zoltan Kocsis.

  • Belgrade, Serbia 1980 – The Best Interpretation of the Year 1979 Award presented by the Community of Self-managing Organizations for Culture of Belgrade
  • Rotterdam, 1979 – 3rd prize at the International Arnold Schonberg Piano Competition
